Epic Games, the studio behind the successful Gears of War series and the Unreal game engine, has announced its newest title, Paragon.

Currently, there's very little information on what Paragon actually is - the website has been launched, showing one character in the game, but that's about it.

More characters will be released each week, with the last one being revealed on 3 December.

It's an agonisingly slow reveal for what's bound to be a cool game, given Epic's past releases.

The first revealed 'hero', likely to be a playable character, is called Twinblast - a square-jawed, all-American looking guy with two guns.

Interestingly, as they look at the characters, players can choose perks, such as increased damage or more health, that they'll be able to redeem and actually use once the game is released for PC in early 2016.

Whether you want to fight for glory, pride, fortune or infamy, there's different perks to suit different playing styles.

Paragon could turn out to be anything at this point, but you can be fairly certain it's going to be a multiplayer-focused shooter.

Watch this space for more news about this game as it comes - we don't know what it's about, but we do know that Paragon are very, very good at torturing gamers.
