Man says Ubisoft spoiled what would have been a 'next-gen defining' game

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A man claiming to have worked with Ubisoft Montreal on Watch Dogs has posted a lengthy rant about the PS4 and Xbox One game's shortcomings.
The anonymous user on 4Chan broke down a number of specific issues that led to the game not having the finesse of other open world titles like GTA 5, which you can read in full above (and in a larger screen grab here), and included:
"I was handed some interior stuff. They asked me to create a biker bar, so that's what I did, created a dirty biker bar and with some hardcore bikers inside now what those fools over there did was give it a beautiful summer veranda outside with red & blue generic umbrellas and benches, called it 'The Shining Sun', so outside you see this beautiful as f*ck place and when you enter - dirty, rough biker bar."
He also alleged that there were problems involving the in-game subway system.
"Earlier, when we were just working on a world buildings etc., Montreal said we need to create a path for the L-train. So that's what they did, but they put f*cking 90 degree turns on the tracks! So I asked them for time/resources to fix this, they respond "we don't see your issue."
Several flaws in the game have been picked up on by gamers since its release three days ago, including obvious ways to evade police and windows that reflect the wrong things.
The user did nothing to prove that they worked on the game and it is possible the tirade is entirely made up, but it isn't the first time one has been levelled at Ubisoft Montreal by a disgruntled developer looking to vent.
A few months ago a Redditor claiming to have worked on Assassin's Creed 3 gave a lengthy list of alleged problems with the game ahead of its launch, saying "Almost everybody on the bottom knew that the Desmond missions were a disgrace."
