The Sims Mobile is launching on iOS and Android

The Sims is set to launch on Android and iOS “soon”.

EA has teased a smartphone version of the classic game, called The Sims Mobile, which is expected to stay true to the PC original that first came out 17 years ago.

The Sims Mobile has already launched in Brazil, and will arrive in more markets in the near future. It will be free to play.

As ever, you’ll be able to create Sims with their own unique looks and personality traits, and build and personalise your Sims’ home.

EA says “shaping your Sims’ legacy” will be central to the game too.

“Shape your Sims’ families over multiple generations,” the company says. “When your Sims accomplish their career goals and retire, you’ll be rewarded with Heirlooms that unlock hobbies and careers for future generations, allowing new Sims to tell deeper stories.”

There are social elements too, with players able to befriend real-life friends in the game, and host and attend parties to earn rewards.

This isn’t the first time The Sims has tried to make a move on mobile.

The Sims FreePlay came to iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8 between 2011 and 2013, but failed to replicate the success of the original.

The Sims Social, which launched on Facebook in 2011, was similarly disappointing.

EA is yet to announce an official release date for the UK, but fans of The Sims shouldn’t have long to wait.
