Capcom has announced additional modes and content to be made available after the launch of their latest zombie-romp Resident Evil 6, due to launch for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 2nd October 2012.

Set to be released as downloadable content, three new gameplay modes will expand on the multiplayer elements available in the retail version to deliver a variation on how you play with online. The new modes, dubbed Survivors, Predator and Siege, will all support up to six players and be played using maps from Mercenaries mode.

Survivors takes the classic solo and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the remaining humans. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form, with the last man or team standing claiming the victory.

Predator Mode sees one player assuming the role of the Ustanak, the tank-like B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, before attempting to eliminate the human players. The humans’ task being simple: stop the nigh-on invincible Ustanak in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Finally, choosing the human side in Siege will see players protecting a single NPC, while as a member of the enemy team players will need to eliminate that same NPC, fail to do so before the time limit runs out and the human team win.

Further post-launch downloadable content for Resident Evil 6 will include additional maps for Mercenaries, which can in turn then be used as maps for Survivors, Predator and Siege modes, plus other items yet to be announced. Whether the above is due to be free content or paid for has yet to be confirmed.
