From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

PlayStation users will be able to link their PlayStation IDs to those on Spotify. That will allow users to subscribe to Spotify through the PlayStation, and to play music from the streaming service onto the console.
PS4 users will be able to listen to music from within games. The tie-up will also allow the Spotify to be integrated into the PlayStation 3 and Sony’s Xperia phones and tablets.
The Spotify integration will mean that Sony will shut down its own music streaming service, which has been widely criticised by gamers. Users that have existing subscriptions for the Music Unlimited service will be given a Spotify trial instead.
Spotify will launch in 44 markets initially, including the UK and the USA.
“We are incredibly honored to partner with Sony and PlayStation to give gamers around the world an amazing experience wherever they listen to music,” said Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of Spotify. “As a gamer and PlayStation 4 user myself, I’m super excited to be able to soundtrack my FIFA 15 Arsenal matches later this spring.”
One tweeter, a parody account of British games designer Peter Molyneux, suggested some more radical applications of the new feature.
