The wilfully stupid experiment turned internet phenomenon is priced at $4.99 in the US and £2.99 in the UK, though the developer Coffee Stain Studios admits that "you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop or a pile of bricks."
The simulator was released a couple of days earlier than expected, because, as a spokesperson put it on Twitter, "When you see a big button that says 'publish,' you HAVE to f*cking click it."
Gameplay teased in Goat Simulator's superb trailer (7 million views and counting) includes jetpacking around the countryside, flying off a treadmill and defenestrating yourself.
The game has been likened to an old-school skating game, "except instead of being a skater, you're a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff."
Such was the PC version of the game's popularity, there are already hosts of copies in the iOS app store that are even worse than the intentionally bad original.
