Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

As a graphically enhanced version of last year's excellent Tomb Raider release, this adds a touch of class and a hint of Nineties Lara Croft nostalgia to the Next-Gen roster of releases. While not substantially transformed enough from the former version to justify a repeat purchase for those who bought the game the first time round, for those who were holding out, the sheer cinematic scope of Yamatai, where the ultimate protagonist to admire must find her way, will definitely leave you engrossed.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

As the third game based in the Final Fantasy 13 universe, this is an action RPG that casts you as Lightning, a woman on a mission from God to save the souls of an endangered people. This is one for fans of the FF13 series who want to see it through to its conclusion; it is very unlikely that this will win any new fans over. Unfortunately, for the loyal fans who will inevitably buy this game, the flat characters and monotonous gameplay make it more of a punishment than a reward.

Inazuma Eleven 3: Team Ogre Attacks!

The third instalment in the football RPG series Inazuma Eleven 3 retains the bizarre accents and quirky gameplay of its predecessors in an outlandish tale of time travel, villainy and, well, football. Fans of the series will no doubt see Team Ogre Attacks! as a resounding victory. For the uninitiated, the anachronistic charm of a game released in Japan four years ago can't mask the ageing visuals or clunky controls.
