Facebook is asking US trademark officials to protect the leading online social network's "face.
"
Facebook on Wednesday had received a "notice of allowance" from the US Patent and Trademark Office regarding its request to trademark the word "face" when it comes to telecommunications and online socializing.
The notice meant that the trademark request filed by Facebook in late 2005 survived a public challenge period. Facebook has six months to complete the next step in the trademark process.
