Soho bakery Cutter & Squidge has transformed its basement into a secret garden paradise

Hardcore Hello Kitty fans think nothing of travelling across the world to experience the different café themes dedicated to the iconic Sanrio character.

And now she’s finally in the UK, in the form of an ‘oh so cute’ and yummy afternoon tea at a Soho bakery.

The Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea is the first-ever pop-up café in Europe based around the character.

All-natural bakery Cutter & Squidge has transformed its basement into a secret garden paradise, where fans will be able to indulge in delicious treats and have fun Instagramming.

So, what’s in the menu? There’s pink lemonade, a choice of loose leaf tea, sandwiches, savoury cheese scones served with red pepper relish and cream cheese, coronation crackers, a strawberry milkshake biskie (a biscuit/cake/cookie hybrid), apple pie mousse, a vanilla cookie, ice cream, pink lemonade marshmallow, cake truffle and dipped strawberries.

Destined to become firm favourites are Mama’s Homemade Apple Pie Biskie, inspired by the famous feline’s all-time favourite treat, and Kitty’s Mud Pie Chocolate Dream Cake.

There’s also a ‘Tiny Tea’ menu for foodies under eight.

And for those who want to extend their sweet experience, the bakery will offer additional Biskie and Dream Cake flavours as part of a full range of goodies created exclusively for the pop-up. This includes baking kits, cookies, soft-serve ice cream and vegetarian marshmallow plus limited edition merchandise, from recipe books to tote bags, which will be available for three months.

Cutter & Squidge’s co-owner Annabel Lui said: “We are beyond excited to be the first European café to host this beloved character… our only worry is that the range will be too cute to eat.”

Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea will run from Wednesday, June 1 until Wednesday, August 31.
