What’s the best way to celebrate National Pizza Day, which falls on February 9? (Yes, it’s a real thing).

Should you go out with friends and eat your bodyweight in pizza? Perhaps you could try making your own from scratch at home?

Oh no. The best way to see in this all-important national holiday is of course to savour a pizza-flavoured cocktail.

You heard us right. Bunga Bunga in Battersea is launching a quirky cocktail inspired by their pizza especially for National Pizza Day.

While the idea of drinking a pizza may fill you with dread, Bunga Bunga’s creation actually sounds pretty appetising.

The one-off cocktail will be concocted using Italian Dry Gin, Aperol, cherry tomatoes and basil syrup, topped with a Burrata and Peroni beer foam.

The cocktail will be available until February 11.

This isn’t the first time pizza connoisseurs have attempted to combine the delicious flavours of pizza with mixology.

In 2014, Domino’s collaborated with the London Cocktail Club to create a pepperoni passion cocktail for London Cocktail Week.

The cocktail was made by combining vodka with Domino’s signature pepperoni sausage, which was then blended with tomato sauce and passion fruit puree before being topped with a pepperoni garnish.

To make the most of National Pizza Day, Bunga Bunga Battersea and BungaTINI in Covent Garden are also offering 30 per cent off all pizzas on the day for anyone who signs up to nationalpizzaday.co.uk.

So, why not take your passion for pizza up a notch by trying this eclectic cocktail?
