Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. From retail chain H&M to 'affordable' design brands such as Weekday or Acne to high-end labels including Henrik Vibskov or Ann Sofie Back: Scandinavian design is on the tip of everyone's tongue, and Polyvore users have unearthed a new potential superstar in Leifsdottir.
The clean yet quirky designs by Finnish designer Johanna Uurasjarvi have been charming online shoppers so much that the Urban Outfitters-owned Leifsdottir has made it to the top of this week's websites and to #2 in brands.
Another interesting discovery should be boutiquetoyou.com: the site, which makes its Polyvore debut this week, makes celebrity-inspired shopping easy by posting stars' complete outfits with click-through shopping links.
Apart from these new entries, other labels such as Proenza Schouler or Sass & Bide are making their comebacks to the ranking thanks to their recent runway shows.
As for celebrities, Kate Moss returns to the top ten, probably because of the brouhaha surrounding her wedding to musician Jamie Hince, and the ever popular street style of model Frida Gustavsson has caught on with Polyvore users, bestowing her the first appearance on the site.
In trends, Polyvore's aspiring stylists don't seem to be able to decide between the 1970s and 80s, with flared jeans, skinny belts, and rompers balancing distressed denim, fingerless gloves, and leg warmers.
