Often overlooked in favour of a feline flick or bold lip, blusher is making a comeback this Spring with the promise of a fresh, youthful glow.

Now that the sun is finally shining, it’s time to sweep away those dull winter days and switch up your beauty routine to light, shimmery and balmy textures.

When it comes to blush, throughout the cooler months we tend to opt for deeper colours – think dusty pink, plum and warm bronze – but as the warmer weather kicks in it’s time to opt for shades at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Get ready for a spring fling with dewy coral, bright pink and zesty orange.

Blushes, flushed cheeks are just what you need to revitalise your look for the new season but, how do you pick a shade that compliments your complexion?

Here, it’s all about making the rest of your face appear brighter and fresher so a good place to start is with a shade that matches the colour of your chops when you have a natural flush.

For those of you with fair skin, shades like pale pink, peach and plum work best. But, with lighter complexions it’s often better to opt for a shimmery or creamy formula so as to avoid it looking too overwhelming.

For medium and olive skin tones, opting for apricot, rose and soft berry will give your already warm skin a slight enhancement but if you’re after something a little edgier, deeper shades of mauve can give medium skin extra depth.

Those with dark skin will find deep raisin shades and terracotta super-flattering but make sure you don’t go too cool as this can look ashy on your complexion. Bright oranges, however intimidating, also look seriously pretty so don’t be afraid to give them either; you won’t regret it.

When it comes to which formula you should choose, spring often favours tints and creams but light, powdery formulas work well too; just make sure to use them sparingly.
