Primark are well-known for their purse-friendly apparel, but like so many fashion retailers they’ve now set their sets firmly on the beauty market.

The budget store have sold makeup for a while, but following the success of their most recent cosmetics launch - the ‘PS PRO’ collection - Primark have decided to launch their own range of skincare too.

The four-step range includes a protecting day cream, replenishing night cream, uplifting eye gel and an anti-ageing serum - all of which can be nabbed at no more than £4 a pop.

The brand claims that these products provide “four simple steps to supple, glowing skin”, but just how good are they?

Considering the scope of the beauty market today it seems a tall order to compete with such high-end, high-price brands such as consumer favourites Sunday Riley, Kiehl’s or Estee Lauder, but Primark are certainly giving it a shot.

The range has been specifically formulated with a series of high-quality ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Coenzyme Q10 and Green Tea which promise to tackle the beauty woes of all skin types.

These are all elements found in some costly competing products; Hyaluronic Acid helps to bind moisture to the skin and improve skin’s barrier function while Coenzyme Q10 works to increase firmness.

Primark says: "These carefully selected raw materials work together to promote radiance and reduce the appearance of ageing."

As winter sets in and the cold weather plays havoc with our skin, our beauty arsenal is due a much needed update - but would you trade in your expensive products for Primark’s cheap skincare?
