From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Victoria’s Secret show is the lingerie extravaganza that millions tune in to watch every year – less catwalk show and more kinky concert with models parading in barely there outfits serenaded by some of the world’s biggest musicians.
Many changes have been announced since the 2014 show; following the departure of supermodels and former “Angels” Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes, the brand announced the promotion of 10 of its regular models to “Angel” status, meaning they’d been signed by the brand with a privileged Angel contract making them the official faces of its campaigns and shows.
The likes of Sara Sampaio and Martha Hunt joined established members Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel and Lily Aldridge, and will make their Angel debut in the New York runway late this year.
“The 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will be held in New York,” said Sharen Jester Turney, Victoria's Secret chief executive officer. “New York City was the site of the first ever Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 1995, and holds a special place in our history and our hearts. For this year's show, our twentieth, we're returning to where it all began.”
Since its beginnings the show has been held in New York, until it went to Cannes in 2000, back to the Big Apple and then followed by a tour from NYC to Miami, Las Vegas and Miami in 2004. Last year it brought the big show to Europe with the London show and it was to be expected the return to its roots to celebrate its milestone.
The upcoming 2015 show will have the largest crop of Angels ever (with a total of 15 new and established members).
