From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Royal Ascot got underway this week with race-goers flocking to the Berkshire town decked out in their finest for the annual event.
Though the style code for the event is now fairly strict (don't come anywhere near the racecourse with belly buttons or bare shoulders on show) that hasn't stopped some guests making their own interpretations of the rules.
Headwear is the accessory of choice for the more exuberant of dressers to showcase their personal style with oversized and rainbow coloured hats present in abundance.
For the Royal family there was nothing understated about the Queen's debut outfit which came in a cheerful shade of bold pink.
Fellow well-heeled guests in attendance at the opening of the race meet included an extended contingent of Royals including - Princess Beatrice, Zara Philips, Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cornwall and Sophie Wessex.
Ladies' Day was a white wash with many of the event's best dressed attendees opting to wear white including Princess Beatrice, Eleanor Tomlinson and Samantha Barks.
