From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova - usually when a list of names like that get together it's for a major tennis tournament - not a clothing launch.
But this was no ordinary launch event, because it's probably only Nike that wields the brand power to pull together such a collective of tennis' greatest stars - past and present.
Nike took the opportunity to host a party to celebrate the launch of its new NikeCourt collection ahead of the US Open which starts next week.
Not just any party, the brand sought to recreate the its iconic street tennis commercial from 1995 which starred Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.
20 years on and the Meatpacking district played host to a series of matches between the world famous players all decked out in Nike's newest wares, including a re-match between old rivals Sampras and Agassi.
Amongst the spectators gathered to watch the event was one of the sport's biggest fans - US Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
The full less of stars participating was: Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Eugenie Bouchard, Maidson Keys, Nick Kyrgios, Peter Sampras, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Grigor Dimitrov.
