From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fashion week is known to take things to extremes; which often leads to the weird and wonderful when it comes to hair and makeup.
However at Marc Jacobs' show last night in New York, the designer took the surprising decision to show his new collection on bare-faced models.
Francois Nars was the makeup artist behind the scenes at the show, in what was probably his easiest ever job. Unlike shows where the fresh-faced look is created with clever use of makeup, the models for Marc Jacobs wore absolutely nothing, not even lip balm.
"Marc said, 'I feel like maybe they shouldn't have much makeup,' and I went along and said, 'Maybe they shouldn't have any makeup at all.' I think Marc sees these girls as an army," Nars told The Cut backstage at the show.
"The colors in the collection are kind of military, with beige, khaki, caramel, and chocolate. But we're not locked into having to apply makeup or blush or lip gloss. Sometimes I see women journalists like you, wearing nothing, and I love that, it's just a part of life."
Kendall Jenner was once again one of the models walking in the show with an impressive cast that included Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Candice Swanepoel. She along with the other models all sported a black bowl cut wig.
