From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 39-year-old supermodel's first fashion shoot will be featured in an upcoming spring issue of the glossy magazine.
British Vogue editor, Alexandra Shulman, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Kate is going to work with us in this new role.
"Her undoubtedly brilliant sense of style, depth of fashion knowledge, and understanding of what makes a wonderful image will be exciting to see used in the pages of British Vogue. I am really looking forward to working with her on ideas."
Moss, who has been on 33 British Vogue covers, will be intrinsically involved with the magazine's editor to produce fashion shoots with her choice of photographers and models.
The announcement of her post-model career plans followed the news that she will be designing again for Topshop, with a collection to be released in April 2014.
Following yesterday's news that Burberry boss Angela Ahrendt is to join Apple in a shocking departure, Moss also surprised the fashion industry with her new plans.
