From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s not an easy transition from the dark mood of winter into a shiny, bright new season. With next Monday unofficially known as Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, ploughing head-first into new season trends seems a rather daunting prospect.
Denim, with its transitional status, provides an ideal outlet for shoppers looking for a gentler introduction to the season. Fortunately, there is a brand new collaboration hitting the rails this week which pairs premium denim label AG with it-girl Alexa Chung. Chung is a woman of many talents: she has turned her hand to presenting, modelling, writing and even a spot of singing, with a recent music video for online retailer mytheresa.com.
But it is this newest endeavour that seems a more natural fit for Chung, whose personal style has seen her awarded the British Fashion Council’s Style Award for three years consecutively.
AG, or Adriano Goldschmied, to give it its full name, is a Los Angeles-based label specialising in the more premium aspect of denim designs and meticulous cuts. This new 20-piece collection draws on Chung’s own style influences; she describes it as “the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late Sixties, early Seventies aesthetic”.
The result is a collection that includes an enticing mix of wardrobe staples such as classic skinny jeans and boyfriend-style T-shirts with more distinctive pieces, including dresses with pintuck collar details and dungaree dresses.
The collection launches today with a special event at Selfridges, hosted by the lady herself. Also available from Harrods, stylebop.com, matchesfashion.com and net-a-porter.com.
