At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Not exactly a newcomer, Pike, 35, has in fact been in the movie business for 12 years quietly racking up film credits and the odd fashion campaign.
Last year she collaborated with British high street label LK Bennett and designed a capsule collection of bags for the brand as well as fronting the advertising campaign.
Here we take a look back at her style hits and misses of the last decade.
In 2002 Pike was cast in her first big role; a Bond girl in Die Another Day. Since then her red carpet appearances have been consistent; from movie premieres to awards ceremonies and film festivals, she's cleverly honed an elegant sense of style.
Pike's style choices didn't start out so well; a layered Prada prom dress, a beige suede dress and an corkscrew curl hairdo are a few of the more questionable choices.
A few years down the line however and Pike's go-to list of designers included Roland Mouret and Alexander McQueen, which meant things were looking up.
Now she's a regular on the front row at Christian Dior and in recent months has mastered the tricky feat of navigating red carpet dressing whilst pregnant.
