Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. An elite group of five designers have created a range of creative and humorous t-shirts in aid of Comic Relief.
Karl Lagerfeld, Anya Hindmarch, Diane Von Furstenberg, Henry Holland and Matthew Williamson have all combined their creativity and wit to create the limited edition tees in collaboration with Comic Relief’s partner TK Maxx.
In support of Red Nose Day on 13 March the five designs have hit stores with prices ranging between £5.00 for a children's T-shirt up to £14.99 for adult sizes.
Inspired by her latest collection, British handbag designer Anya Hindmarch covered her tee with googly eyes, identical to those on her spring/summer 2015 silk scarves, clutches and bags, accompanied by an Oscar Wilde quote which reads: “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.”
Quirky British designer Henry Holland referenced Blackadder's Baldrick’s infamous quote "I have a cunning plan" and Girls' Hannah Horvath's "I think I may be the voice of my generation” iconic quote – emblazoned across the T-shirt in black bold block capitals.
Meanwhile, Matthew Williamson went for his signature peacock tail print and the question “Do my feathers look big in this?”, and Diane Von Furstenberg used a black and white image of herself in a bikini with the phrase “Don’t be a bore!” scrawled up the side.
Karl Lagerfeld’s number has a silhouette of the legendary designer, of course, accompanied by the phrase “I only know how to play one role: Me”.
To support the campaign, famous faces from different worlds front the tees collection including Lily Allen, Dermot O’Leary, Simon Pegg, Mary Chateris, Gemma Chan, Andy Murray and David Gandy.
The director of Red Nose Day, Emma Freud, said: "This year's T-shirts are beyond gorgeous and all from designers who are right at the top of their game - we can't thank them enough for doing this job so beautifully and doing it for free".
The T-shirts are now available from TK Maxx stores and tkmaxx.com with prices ranging from £5.99 to £14.99.
