Eyeliner is one of the trickiest items in the makeup bag. Not only in application but also in finding the right product that works for you. Gel, pencil, felt-tip – there’s a dizzying array of options available. The latest to peak our interest is Benefit’s offering; They’re Real Push-Up Liner.

It’s a pen-style product with a gel formula inside that’s easily pushed out with a twist mechanism on the bottom. The top of the pen has an AccuFlex rubber style applicator with a slanted edge. It’s an innovative design and there’s no doubt that it makes application easier, certainly in allowing precision and control, but it’s not fool proof and if you have a slip there’s still the risk of panda eye.

The formula itself is a waterproof, thick, matte gel that comes out quite heavy which is ideal if you like a strong liner look (because there’s really no other way to go with it). It’s also perfect if you like your eye makeup to have staying power because this eyeliner does not budge, not when rubbed or under water – you’ll need a good eye makeup remover instead.

The brand is no doubt hoping to capitalise on the success of its mascara of the same name which is the UK’s top seller. It’s a nifty little product and those who like their sixties style flicks it’s a great buy.
