If your wardrobe has come to resemble a smorgasbord of grey over the past few months you’re not alone.

But as the promise of warmer climes sets in, it’s time to deliver a hit of colour to your wardrobe and, just as luck would have it, there’s a new colour code in town.

This season sees the return to bolder shades with designers raiding the Pantone colour chart to bring us collection after collection of Crayola chic.

Forget pastels, spring/summer 2018 is all about bold, bright paintbox colours with everything from Kermit green and zesty yellow to Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet, taking centre stage.

If you’re looking to inject your new season getup with some sunshine look no further than Kenzo’s silk dresses or Calvin Klein’s yellow trousers as worn by model of the moment Kaia Gerber.

For eye-popping fuchsias, see Tom Ford’s Eighties power suits and Roksanda’s ethereal dresses, while fans of cobalt blue will enjoy Versace’s head-to-toe ensembles and Phillip Lim’s spliced biker jacket.

Bow Top, £25.99, Zara

Meanwhile at Marc Jacobs, shots of orange were showcased as well as Crayola green sweaters and tube skirts, all with oversized tailoring.

A trend that was easy to pull off on the runway, wearing head-to-toe brights might not seem wearable in real life, but it really is.

The easiest way for the bold among you to embrace it is with this season’s power-suit trend. You can pair a matching jacket and trousers with a clashing top and statement earrings.

Alternatively, those afraid to show their true colours can test the water with accessories in punchy hues.

Cropped Pressfold Trousers, £59, Cos
