Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The e-tailer will open a discount shopping site for fashion, called MyHabit, on May 3.

Just like online auctioner eBay's Fashion Vault, which launched last year, MyHabit is modeled after successful sample sale sites such as Gilt or Vente Privee, offering discounted designer fashion for a limited period of time. But membership is free and instant, moving the destination away from the exclusive feel of the original 'members only' sales.

"MyHabit gives fashion customers an elegant and easy-to-use online destination for private sale shopping," Maria Renz, the site's president, said in a statement. "Couple that with a curated selection of the best brands, free shipping and free returns, and new features like 360-degree video footage, and MyHabit sets a new standard in service, convenience and product presentation."

Doo.Ri, Elizabeth and James, Halston and Vera Wang will be among the first brands made available on the new site, spanning men's, women's, and children's collections with discounts of up to 60 percent.
