A woman who suffers from eczema is inspiring others by embracing her condition through makeup

Bronya Humphreys suffers from eczema - but you wouldn’t know it from looking at her Instagram.

Rather, Humphreys refuses to let her the condition define her - and instead uses the irritating skin condition as a canvas for her makeup.

The 20-year-old mum from Frome developed the rash shortly after giving birth to her daughter, but has since started using makeup to transform the chronic condition into incredible eye makeup looks and inspire others who suffer from skin conditions.

Recreating skylines, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, even Pikachu, Humphrey’s skills are undeniable - and amazing to look at.

But while Humphreys has racked up a pretty impressive Instagram following of over 70,000 followers with her makeup talent, she still receives comments about her eczema.

According to Humphreys, who spoke to Somerset Live, her dedication to makeup happened while she was suffering from prenatal depression.

She said: “I started doing makeup to get through my prenatal depression but now I'm just trying to use my platform on Instagram to help and inspire other people with skin conditions."

However, despite being outspoken about the condition, which often leaves her with a red rash around her eyes, the young mum revealed that people still leave mean comments on her pictures, ranging from “are you dying?” to “you look like a zombie."

Eczema is a chronic skin condition that makes your skin red and itchy, according to the Mayo Clinic, a Minnesota-based medical research group, and although there is no cure, certain creams can improve the condition.

Humphreys wrote on her Instagram account: "I have eczema. I have a skin condition. I have had so many hateful comments recently regarding how I look. When I wear makeup they say I'm fake. When I don't I'm a gross zombie. And can I just say, I am not my skin condition."

Despite the hateful comments, Humphreys continues to post pictures of herself - with and without makeup.

According to Humphreys, when her eczema does flare up, all she can do is wait it out, apply moisturiser, and reassure her followers that she will be back to posting makeup looks soon.

And from the comments on a recent picture comparing her skin with makeup and without, which received over 100,000 likes, it appears Humphrey’s confidence is an inspiration to others.
