Sharon Stone’s Bumble account has been reinstated after her account was blocked from the platform.

On Monday, the Basic Instinct star called out the company on Twitter for deleting her account over reports that it was fake.

“I went on the @bumble dating site and they closed my account,” Stone tweeted alongside a screenshot of a message from the app which read: “You’ve been blocked”.

Stone continued: “Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me!

“Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary? Don’t shut me out of the hive.”

A spokesperson for Bumble has since confirmed that the actor’s account has been restored and apologised for the misunderstanding.

“Being the icon that she is, we can understand how so many of our users felt it was too good to be true once they noticed her profile wasn’t photo verified,” Liz Song, a Bumble representative, told Forbes.

Song added that Bumble’s photo verification system, which prompts users to take a selfie which is then verified by a team member, is just one of the many ways people can ensure accounts are legitimate.

Bumble users also have the option to report a profile if they notice a stolen photo, ensuring that the dating app is able to keep fake profiles to a minimum.

In light of the confusion regarding Stone’s account, Song said Bumble has extended an invitation for the actor to visit the company’s head office for a few hours of “profile prep and great food”.

Stone has spoken publicly in the past about her experience of dating.

In 2014, the actor said she was “available for dating”, and during an appearance on the Late Late Show in 2018 she told host James Corden and fellow guest Elton John what she was looking for in a potential partner.

“I like them tall,” she said.

Stone has been married and divorced twice, and previously called off another engagement.

The 61-year-old is currently single and has three sons with whom she lives in Los Angeles.
