A woman claiming to be a Nando’s waitress revealed several “secret menu” options are available to order from Nando’s – you just have to know where to look.

Minder Kaur posted an answer to a customer’s question on Quora, who asked about a “mushroom side” order that comes on its own.

She said the mushroom side has always been available, although it is not currently on the new version of the menu.

Ms Kaur mentions the new design of the menu means some items had to be removed, but customers are still able to order them if they know the order.

For instance, customers can still request the “toasted pitta item and the Portuguese Portobello roll” although these items are not on the new version of the menu.

Vegetarians can order the Portobello Mushroom and Halloumi burger, pitta or wrap, although it is not featured in the current menu because few customers order it at all, according to Ms Kaur.

“Other items that aren’t presented explicitly or at all on the new menu include beanie or veg fillets by themselves,” added Ms Kaur. Customers can also opt to have feta cheese as a side, and a “chilli wrap”.

The customer who posted the question also asked about a “well-done” option, which Ms Kaur said she does not know of specifically, but alternatively customers can ask for their chicken to be done “crispy”.

She also said the “Peri-tamer” option, a milder version of Nando’s signature Peri-Peri sauce, has always been available on the children’s menu and is “quite widely used”.

One popular secret menu option is the “Peri-tamer Chicken Breast”, which is an adult-sized portion of chicken served with the children’s menu-only Peri-tamer sauce.

When ordering a whole chicken to share, it is possible to have half the chicken coated in a different sauce to the other half, or even mixed together.

“For example, if you are ordering a sharing platter of a whole chicken with two sides/four sides, it is possible to get half of that chicken Peri-tamer and the other half Mango and Lime or whatever other sauce you would prefer,” said Ms Kaur.

She also pointed out extras customers can add to their burgers, pittas and wraps, including cheddar cheese, pineapple, chilli jam, ¼ avocado or grilled halloumi cheese.

Another popular secret menu order is the “Hawaiian chicken chilli melt”, which is a chicken burger with added chilli jam, pineapple and cheddar cheese.
