In what might be the best thing to happen to hangovers since fry-ups, a VIP bedroom cinema has just opened in Switzerland, complete with 11 double beds.

The “VIP Bedroom Cinema” launched over the weekend in Spreitenbach and invites customers to enjoy the latest film releases while snuggled up under a duvet.

Tickets for the home-like cinematic experience cost 49 Swiss francs (£37) and each bed comes complete with adjustable headsets.

Operators have reassured customers that the beds are freshly made in between screenings.

Venanzio Di Bacco, CEO of Pathé Switzerland, told local news website 20 minuten that “the hygiene aspect is very important” to them.

“The offer is unique in Switzerland,” he added. When asked whether he was concerned about whether the bedroom setting would encourage inappropriate activity between spectators in the cinema, Di Bacco said the company has tested the concept abroad and “had no problems so far. “

The cinema is part of a complex at Pathé Switzerland, which also includes various other screens, including an IMAX cinema and six conventional cinemas with regular seats.

While there's no direct equivalent to the bedroom cinema in the UK, there are a number of luxury boutique cinemas that offer push reclining seats and sofas, such as the Electric, the Dominion and the Everyman.
