Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Back together, for ever?

Tonight former Neighbours stars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are to sing their duet "Especially for You" at Pete Waterman's Hit Factory Live show in London. A concert spokesperson said they'd never before performed it live (at least not without miming).

The show was set to happen in Hyde Park last July, but it was cancelled after the ground became sodden. Pete Waterman said it probably wouldn't have been too sensible to have people dancing "to Rick Astley in three feet of mud".

A popular reunion?

The lead singer of Dead or Alive, Pete Burns, whose group will also be performing, didn't seem too impressed that Waterman had managed to get Kylie to top the bill. He told the Digital Spy website: "She's got a lovely voice and her records are catchy, but then again, so is herpes."

There's no doubt that everyone's highlight of the gig will be their cheesy duet, however. As Kylie said before the concert's initial cancellation: "I don't think we'll even need to sing it. I'm sure the audience all went through the Neighbours wedding."
