Uber users in London today are being urged to donate to The Independent's Help A Hungry Child Christmas appeal.

On all Uber trips in London today, the ride-hailing app will display a pop-up message encouraging passengers to donate to the Felix Project in just a few clicks.

"In our second year of supporting the Felix Project, we wanted to make it as simple as possible for our users to get involved, too," said Tom Elvidge, Uber's UK General Manager.

"Whether travelling to work, home or to Christmas parties today, we hope Londoners will take a minute or two to donate to this great cause."

This year The Independent is raising money for The Felix Project, to help ensure primary school children don't go hungry.

Earlier this month Uber gave £50,000 to the appeal, following a similar donation to the Felix Project last year.

The Felix Project's fleet includes Uber-branded vans, which help to collect surplus food from supermarkets and other retailers and deliver it to frontline charities.

In two years the campaign aims to reach 50,000 children.

Every £1 donated will guarantee a primary school pupil and their family food for a nutritious meal. Every £500 will allow a new school to enrol in the programme.
