Two rare South-east Asian clouded leopards have been born at a zoo in Paris. The female cubs, named Pati and Jaya, made their first public appearance at the Jardin des Plantes this week.

They were born on 14 May but the zoo did not send out a birth announcement until yesterday because it wanted to make sure mother and cubs were in good health. The cats, known for their gorgeous pelts, are threatened by poachers and loss of habitat in South-east Asia and parts of China.
