Your support makes all the difference.After 16 years calling out politicians on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart is heading to the WWE (for one night only) to introduce wrestlers at WWE SummerSlam.
Stewart actually has a history with the WWE, having previously been involved in an ongoing rivalry with Seth Rollins that culminated in the superstar appearing on The Daily Show.
The pay-per-view will be held at the Brooklyn Center in New York on 23 August, with the main attraction being a clash between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, who famously ended Taker’s unbeaten streak at WrestleMania.
Stewart follows a long line of celebrities from outside of wrestling to play guest host, along with Snoop Dogg and Donald Trump.
Other matches at the PPV include Randy Orton vs. Shaemus, John Cena vs Seth Rollins and Ryback vs The Big Show vs The Miz in a triple threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Trevor Noah is take up the reins of The Daily Show in September 2015, and, instead of picking on Fox News, a staple of the Daily Show, Noah wants to move with the times and direct his attention more towards websites such as Buzzfeed and Gawker.
“The Daily Show was based on an emerging 24 hour news cycle, that’s everything it was,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “That’s what inspired The Daily Show. Now you look at news and it’s changed. It’s no longer predicated around 24 hour news. There are so many different choices.
“Half of it is online now. Now you’ve got the Gawkers, the BuzzFeeds. The way people are drawing their news is soundbites and headlines and click-bait links has changed everything. The biggest challenge is going to be an exciting one I’m sure is how are we going to bring all of that together looking at it from a bigger lens as opposed to just going after one source—which was historically Fox News.”
