WandaVision: viewers speculate who radio voice belongs to

The first episodes of WandaVision have raised many questions – chief among them: Who exactly was speaking to Wanda on the radio?

Marvel’s first-ever series focuses on characters Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), following on from the devastating events of Avengers: Endgame.

The series sees the couple living in domestic bliss within a 1950s sitcom, however, it soon becomes clear that the suburban haven is an alternate world constructed by Wanda in order to block out the trauma of her past tragedies.

As the show goes on, disturbing and mysterious moments interrupt Wanda’s picture-perfect life, threatening to force the character to reckon with her harsh reality.

One such instance occurs in episode two when Wanda is seen speaking to Dottie (Emma Caulfield). During their conversation, a radio begins to play The Beach Boys’s hit song “Help Me, Rhonda” until a voice interrupts the music, calling out to Wanda and asking if she can “read” him.

Viewers have been quick to speculate which MCU character is behind the mysterious radio transmission.

Guesses have included Wanda’s twin Pietro aka Quicksilver, Hawkeye, and even Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, who is set to star opposite Scarlet Witch in the forthcoming film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The hypothesis that has gained the most traction, however, is that the voice heard over the radio is FBI agent Jimmy Woo – played by Randall Park.

Park has already been confirmed to reprise his role as the former SHIELD agent in WandaVision, and this voice-only feature may be his first appearance in the series.

As pointed out by GamesRadar, Park’s name is included in the foreign credits for episode two suggesting that the actor was involved despite not appearing in the traditional sense.

Kat Dennings’s Darcy Lewis is also set to make an appearance in the series.

The second episode saw the introduction of Teyonah Parris’s character Monica Rambeau, who is now going by the name Geraldine.

Since its debut, the Disney+ series has been received well by both critics and fans. You can read The Independent’s four-star review of WandaVision’s first two episodes here.
