Karren Brady was 'nearly killed' on Apprentice task, says former candidate

Businesswoman 'was not happy at all’

A former Apprentice contestant has revealed that  Karren Brady was “nearly killed” during a task.

Frances Bishop, who appeared in the BBC show's 12th series in 2016, recalled the moment in a new interview, saying that she wishes “it had actually been put in the show”.

The moment in question occurred during the third week when the two teams were tasked with making their own sweets.

“I’ll never forget, we nearly killed Karren Brady,” Bishop recalled to Metro.

“There was no brakes on the sweet cart. Karren Brady was on this pedestrian crossing, and you have Oliver [Nohl-Oser] and Karthik [Nagesan] hurtling towards her, me and Grainne [McCoy] were running past, screaming.”

Bishop – who runs children's clothing outlet The Pud Store – continued: “Karren was like, “Oh my God, this is ridiculous.” Even the cameramen were trying not to laugh. You see the camera shaking just from the laughter.”

“It’s something I’ll never forget – I just remember all these passers-by and I was like, ‘We’re gonna die, we’re gonna die on a sweet cart. This is it, this is the end.’”

The businesswoman said that Brady – who has been Lord Sugar’s aide on the show since 2009 – "was not happy at all".

Bishop ultimately finished third in the series, being beaten by Courtney Wood and eventual winner Alanna Spencer.

The series, which had its latest run cancelled because of coronavirus, is now available to view on BBC iPlayer.
