From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Amazon Prime has nabbed the rights to air all 26 episodes of Ronja the Robber's Daughter, a series follows the titular protagonist - a member of a proud tribe of bandits in a fantastical kingdom - who befriends the son of her family's rival clan.
Based on a children's book by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, the series - which was originally shown between October 2014 and March 2015 - is directed by Gorō Miyazaki, son of Studio Ghibli's co-founder Hayao. His film credits include Tales from Earthsea and From Up on Poppy Hill.
The series bears a different look from its trademark films which include Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle; there's added CGI courtesy of a co-production alongside Polygon Pictures which has created a traditional 2D look not dissimilar to films from Pixar and DreamWorks. In fact, it was announced last year how Miyazaki himself had come out of retirement to develop his first CG animation.
While it remains unclear whether Ronja the Robber's Daughter will be available in its original Japanese format, the dubbed version will feature the voices of Teresa Gallagher, Kelly Adams, comedian Rufus Hound and The X-Files' Gillian Anderson.
Ronja the Robber's Daughter will be available to view on Amazon Prime in the UK and US from 27 January.
