SNL announces season finale at home

Saturday Night Live will wrap up its current season with a third remote episode.

The programme announced on Thursday that it will return this Saturday (9 May) for another instalment of SNL at Home.

A video teaser features cast members including Kate McKinnon, Colin Jost, Pete Davidson, and Aidy Bryant experiencing various mishaps while trying to record their sketches while on confinement.

Despite those technical difficulties, the SNL team has managed to produce two at-home episodes so far.

The first aired on 11 April with Tom Hanks as a surprise host and Chris Martin as the evening’s musical guest.

A second episode followed on 25 April. Brad Pitt portrayed Dr Anthony Fauci, one of the leading members of Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force, and Miley Cyrus covered Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”.

As was the case for the two previous instalments, SNL hasn’t named a host nor a musical guest for the upcoming episode.

Instead, the season finale has been teased as “a show produced entirely remotely from the cast and celebrity guests’ homes as they practice social distancing”.

The last in-person episode of SNL aired on 7 March with Daniel Craig as the host and The Weeknd as the musical guest.

SNL's 45th season was then affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced many programmes to halt production as the country went into lockdown.
