Orange Is The New Black Season 4 Trailer

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There's a change in the air.

We all knew something big was coming when a busload of new inmates appeared at the close of season 3, arriving at the now for-profit Litchfield prison to be packed in like sardines.

Now, the new trailer for season 4 teases ever-rising tensions in the overcrowded facility. With the new blood, comes the new security forces; bringing the threat of an all-out war breaking on multiple fronts.

Whether between prisoners and guards, or between prisoners and prisoners; rest assured what's being teased here is a dark new turn for the prison-set comedy-drama.

One character who certainly needs to watch her back is Piper (Taylor Schilling); her panty-selling business fuelled power trip, which saw her ship former lover Stella off to Max, has certainly made her a fair few enemies. What's all that burying talk about, again?

There's at least some confirmation that Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) survived her confrontation with Aydin in the prison greenhouse; though we don't see her, her voice is heard asking Red (Katie Mulgrew); "Can you keep a secret?"

However, there's no sign of whether Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) will return from Max, or if we'll ever see John Bennett (Matt McGorry) return to the mother and child he abandoned.

All 13 episodes will launch Friday, June 17 on Netflix.
