47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden has tweeted a message for Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Twitter after the actor revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"We Veeps stick together. Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia," Biden wrote, the tweet receiving over 50,000 retweets and nearly 300,000 likes.

He was, of course, referencing Louis-Dreyfus' Emmy-winning character Selina Meyer, the vice president and protagonist in HBO's Veep.

The pair previously shot a skit together for the White House Correspondents' Dinner and first met at a state dinner, with Louis-Dreyfus describing Biden as "one of the most wonderful men" she ever met.

She revealed her breast cancer diagnosis on Twitter yesterday, pairing her announcement with a call for healthcare reform.

"1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one," she wrote.

"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.

"The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."
