Jennifer Aniston has revealed she gets “super nostalgic” for Friends, and has expressed an eagerness to return to the “simpler times” of the 1990s.

Speaking to InStyle Magazine, Aniston explained that she found her confidence while appearing on the long-running sitcom. “In a way, being on that show was the ultimate trust exercise,” she said. “There was comfort in numbers there, so we all held each other up. I miss a lot about that time. Having a job that was absolute, pure joy. I miss getting to be with people I love massively and respect beyond words.”

She continued, “These days I’m super nostalgic. Anything can make me go, ‘Aww.’ Even [US clothing store] Fred Segal, I guess.”

Aniston also admitted that she pines for the 1990s themselves. “When I think back on the 1990s, it makes me nostalgic — period,” she explained. “They were simpler times. This is going to sound odd, but there was a sense of safety in the world. We weren’t exposed to as much as we are now. And even if there was just as much s*** going on, we didn’t necessarily have it in our faces 24/7. It was lighter. There was a lot more human connection.”

Aniston is soon to be seen in The Morning Show, her forthcoming return to television with Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, which she called “the hardest job I’ve done thus far”. It will stream on Apple TV later this year.
