From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Game of Thrones fans hit the motherload this morning as HBO and Sky Atlantic released a batch of stills from the upcoming season 6.

It seems they're keeping the new characters under wraps, but there's a lot we can glean with regards to what those we already know are up to.

As expected, Arya Stark is now blind, while her sister Sansa appears to be alive and well following her leap from the walls of Winterfell.

It all looks pretty tense between Jaime and Cersei, and over in Meereen Tyrion and Varys seem to have a handle on matters.

Perhaps just to throw more fuel on that never-ending debate, Jon Snow is conspicuously absent from the images despite having featured on the season 6 poster.

Game of Thrones season 6 arrives on HBO on 24 April, being simulcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic.
