From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

This first look has delivered a pitch-perfect remake of the opening titles to Magnum P.I., the '80s crime drama series which featured a titular mustachioed maverick played by Tom Selleck.
We're serious, it's shot-for-shot accurate. Even that moment when Pam Poovey attempts to tame a bull while dressed as a clown; that's in the original Magnum P.I. trailer too, some completely unidentifiable reason. Here's both, for side-by-side comparison.
With its origins in '60s spy parodies, the show's rigorously anarchic and loose format has always awarded it certain creative freedoms; it's hilarious to see the show now take on the '80s detective series, following on from season 5's spin-off with Archer Vice, which completely switched up the show's usual spy parodies for an '80s drenched tale of criminal indiscretions.
There's been little word on what season 7 will consist of, with our last moments with the team seeing them blacklisted by the CIA. So, no clue yet whether the series will actually follow through with its trailer's premise, though the sunglasses Archer puts on in season 6's finale do suggest we might soon be dealing with the murky world of private investigation and fabulous moustaches.
Creator Adam Reed did tease the following at San Diego's Comic-Con (via Collider): "It’s not a reboot, but we are creating tons and tons of new elements: wardrobe, weapons, cars, the sets…So we’re drawing so much that were a little behind, and we don’t have the season premiere as we usually do," he stated. "Not one to spoil it all, I can say that it’s more sexy and dangerous than ever. Or equally as sexy and dangerous."
Season 7 will at least see the return of the eponymous Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin); alongside Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler), Malory Archer (Jessica Walter), Cyril Figgis (Chris Parnell), Chery Tunt (Judy Greer), Pam Poovey (Amber Nash), Ray Gillette (Adam Reed), and Krieger (Lucky Yates).
Archer will air on US TV on FX Thursday, 31 March.
