Dominic West has been criticised by Twitter users for seemingly breaking tier 2 regulations.

The Affair actor was seen in a since-deleted Instagram picture shared by a friend enjoying a meal outside after appearing to have gone shooting.

West is in a group of eight people (including the person who took the photo), but under tier 2 guidelines in place in Wiltshire, where he lives, only groups of up to six may meet outside.

The picture prompted outrage from social media users, who claimed that, as with Rita Ora’s recent flouting of Covid guidelines, it showed that celebrities feel they are above the law.

“Dominic West now flouting lockdown rules as he's got the ‘rules are for the poor people, not us talented luvvies’ mentality of many of his ilk,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Have these imbeciles not realised they’re not above the rules and they are in place for the safety of all?!” another commented.

One tweeted: “Look at these elitist rule breaking snobs thinking they are above the law but to cap it all they have been shooting innocent wildlife! #Shameonyou #DominicWest.”

“Dominic West & the rest of his luvvie pals are paid up members of the ‘Do as I say, but don’t do as I do’ brigade so I can’t help but gloat at any opprobrium that comes his way. Being an actor & the son of actors doesn't grant him special privileges in my book,” another critic commented.

Commenting on the picture, another person joked: “Dominic West is starring in a new series about British toffs. It looks kinda terrible. Wardrobe dept definitely lacks imagination.”

The Independent has approached West’s representatives for comment.
