Coronavirus: Netflix show Riverdale shuts down production on season 4 amid outbreak

‘The team member is currently receiving medical evaluation,’ spokesperson said

Riverdale is no longer filming its fourth season after a member of the crew came into contact with someone who had tested positive for Coronavirus.

In a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros confirmed on Wednesday (11 March) that the “team member is currently receiving medical evaluation”.

The statement read: “We are working closely with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have come into direct contact with our team member.

”The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews is always our top priority. We have and will continue to take precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.“

Warner Bros confirmed that “out of an abundance of caution,” production of the popular teen series is “currently suspended”.

The news comes the day after the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

A number of TV shows and films have already been cancelled.

The 25th James Bond film No Time To Die has been delayed. Meanwhile, production on Mission: Impossible 7 was shut down in Italy after the outbreak reached several cities and provinces.

Coronation Street is having to have scenes rewritten after an unidentified member of the cast was forced to go into self-isolation having visited an affected area.

ITV have also pulled Phillip Schofield’s How to Spend It Well on Holiday. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy have taken precautions by filming without a live audience.
