SPOILER: Clone Wars ending

Star Wars: The Clone Wars star Matt Lanter has said that his Anakin Skywalker will return to Star Wars.

Lanter – who voiced the infamous Jedi in the long-running animated series – has confirmed that his character will be be coming back in an as-yet-unspecified project.

Although Clone Wars concluded with its seventh and final season last year, Lanter revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he has since been working on projects for Lucasfilm Animation (the animation division of George Lucas’s company).

He said: “There’s some new Lucasfilm Animation going on. I’ve been a part of some things I can’t talk about yet.

“I never quite put Anakin down, whether I’m doing a video game or something new for Lucasfilm Animation.”

While Lanter was unable to confirm the title of any projects he is involved in, it is possible that Lanter’s Skywalker may appear in a cameo capacity or as a returning character in Star Wars: The Bad Batch – a spin-off series to Clone Wars that will premiere on 4 May on Disney Plus.

The character of Anakin Skywalker is also set to return in live-action form in the forthcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi with Hayden Christensen set to reprise the role.
