Charisma Carpenter has thanked David Boreanaz for his “private” support after fans repeatedly called on the Angel star to address her allegations against Joss Whedon.

On Wednesday (10 February), Charisma Carpenter accused the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator of “abusing his power” on the set and firing her from spin-off series Angel after she had given birth.

Since the allegations surfaced, Boreanaz, who appeared alongside Carpenter in Buffy and Angel, was urged by fans to make a public statement.

When he did so on Sunday (14 February), Carpenter made a point of alerting people to the fact that Boreanaz had been supporting her “privately” since she came forward with her allegations, as well as over the years.

“I know you’re there for me, David,” she wrote. “I appreciate all you’ve done to demonstrate that support privately as well. Especially since Wednesday. Thank you so much.”

Whedon has yet to respond to the allegations publicly.

Many of Carpenter’s other co-stars responded to her claims, with Amber Benson (Tara) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) coming forward with their own allegations against the writer-director.

Meanwhile, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the lead character on Buffy, has distanced herself from Whedon.
