The outpouring of love from fans following the cancellation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine could be the US sitcom's saviour.
Fox announced it was to end the series after five seasons last night (10 May) and, hours later, it was trending on Twitter with many criticising the decision via streams of Gina Linetti gifs.
Deadline reports that the unprecedented uproar has sparked the interest of other platforms who are said to be circling the show which stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher and Melissa Fumero.
Hulu - the US streaming service home to The Handmaid's Tale - is said to be the most likely contender having breathed fresh life into The Mindy Project much in the same way following its initial cancellation by Fox.
It's also reported that cable channel TBS - which has off-network rights to the comedy show - could become its new home as boss Kevin Reilly developed and picked up the show while in control of Fox.
While Netflix is also in the running, it's reportedly in the shadow of Hulu with the latter owning video-on-demand rights to the series.
The series was created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation) and follows Samberg character Jake Peralta's escapades along with his fellow cops in the NYPD's 99th precinct.
Fumero and co-star Joe Lo Truglio posted touching messages on social media following the confirmation of the news.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs on E4 in the UK and gained a legion of fans following its addition to Netflix where fans can currently watch the first four seasons.
