Rapper and actor 50 Cent has criticised the Emmy awards after the TV series Power was overlooked for nominations.

50, real name Curtis Jackson, created the Starz crime series about a drug dealer who tries to leave the criminal underworld in collaboration with Courtney A Kemp.

Power aired its final season in the US this February, so the forthcoming Emmy ceremony would have been its final shot at the prestigious award.

On Instagram, the artist posted a picture that seems to be a painting of his own backside, along with the message: “ok here it is Emmy’s, My Black ass for your consideration to kiss.”

This was accompanied with a derisive “middle finger” emoji.

“F*** your organisation I only care about NAACP awards,” he added, referring to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People’s annual Image awards.

Power has been nominated for 11 NAACP awards throughout its run, winning five times (including twice for Outstanding Drama Series).

Jackson has revealed that three Power spin-offs are in the works following the series’ conclusion.

HBO’s foul-mouthed media satire Succession bagged the most Emmy nominations this year, including a staggering nine nods in various acting categories.

Damon Lindelof’s politically charged superhero adaptation Watchmen and Mike Schur’s innocuous afterlife sitcom The Good Place also claimed several nominations each.
