Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Nadia Sawalha will join the likes of Katie Hopkins, Calum Best and Perez Hilton when she enters the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight.

The actress, TV presenter and chef has been confirmed to take part in the ‘twisted fairytale’ themed series, hosted once again by Emma Willis and Rylan Clark.

But who is she, really? Only time will tell, but here’s what we know so far:

Who?

Nadia Sawalha, 50

Where do I know that face from?

Nadia is a British actress and TV presenter, best known for playing Annie Palmer in EastEnders in the late Nineties. She was a regular panellist on Loose Women and won Celebrity MasterChef in 2007.

Why Celebrity Big Brother?

Nadia simply wants to have a good time, and reckons the reality show will be good fun. She think she’ll fit in just fine as her family are “weirdos and nutters”.

What can we expect?

Nadia finds it tricky to hide when she doesn’t like someone and refuses to accept people who are not kind. As a chat show panellist, she has plenty of opinions, and describes herself as “feisty but fair”.

Odds of winning?

Nadia is currently one of the favourites to win Celebrity Big Brother, with Ladbrokes placing her odds of winning at 6/1, just behind TV presenter Keith Chegwin.
