Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Now in its ninth year, the Sadler's Wells hip-hop festival celebrates the range of hip-hop dance, from international headline acts to local crews, from onstage dazzle to freestyle sessions in the foyers.

The line-up includes world b-boy champions Vagabonds Crew with a work influenced by the film Alien. French-Korean duo Clash 66 explore love and madness. Each member of US company ILL-Abilities has a different disability, which they use to create a unique acrobatic style in No Limits, performed with a live DJ.

Sadler's Wells also offers female crew Boadicea (led by Rhimes Lecointe), locking world champion Gemini and the youth companies of Blue Boy Entertainment and ZooNation, plus graffiti workshops, beatboxing demonstrations and more. On tour, local crews join the headline acts.

Sadler's Wells, London EC1 (0844 412 4300; www.sadlerswells.com) today to Mon; Theatre Royal, Plymouth (01752 267222; www.theatre royal.com) Fri & 12 May
