Los Angeles' Diavolo Dance Theatre are surfing a tidal wave of endorphins. Awesomely energetic, they hurtle round a three-ton set of ramps and platforms to the industrial sounds of Jean-Pierre Bedoyan's live percussion. Artistic director Jacques Heim is concerned with "the confinement of metropolitan living".

His fine choreography manipulates scale and perspective to produce vividly surreal tableaux. In "AWOL" a woman is trapped in a menacingly fluid urban landscape, in "Tete en l'Air" a waterfall of commuters spills down gargantuan stairs, turning into their own luggage. Beautiful and disturbing images are achieved with aggressively acrobatic skill by fearless dancers, who take turns to dive from precipitous structures in breathtaking displays of "risk oriented" dance.
